The following are the key points from the interview with Marina Tognetti, the founder of mYngle.

Can you discuss the success of your first project roll-out and share your experience?

Our initial launch of mYngle as a marketplace was fueled by ample funding, numerous awards and extensive PR, and a highly motivated team, drawing from my prior experience with eBay. Despite these factors, our business model did not operate as planned, necessitating us to listen to our customers and pivot in a new direction, transforming from a B2C marketplace into a quality global online school catering to B2B clients.

Our willingness to embrace change and not fear questioning assumptions, alongside our dedication to listening to customer feedback, played a vital role in our success.

How have your customers responded to your services, and how has this feedback influenced your offerings and growth?

At mYngle, our customers have always been the focal point, with their feedback guiding our platform development and shaping our service offerings, allowing us to realize that our initial product-market fit was inadequate, and to shift towards a new direction.

Our commitment to excellence is also reflected in our internal evaluation systems, utilizing customized versions of NPS to monitor user satisfaction, with our average lesson score at a remarkable 4.9/5.0, and our first corporate client still with us a decade later.

What challenges did you encounter during your company’s formative years, and what can your peers learn from them?

Creating a business from the ground up is always a daunting task, with even greater challenges associated with building a tech start-up disrupting such a traditional industry like education, particularly when we commenced over 10 years ago. Overcoming market resistance, prevailing against consumer stereotypes, and disregarding the conservative opinions of peers required perseverance and persistence, especially since there was no clear path to follow. As such, learning and adapting along the way were crucial components of success.

Entrepreneurship is about evolution and adaptation, rather than simply having all the answers, so don’t fret if you don’t get it right initially.

What factors do you believe have contributed to your company’s reputation?

As pioneers of live online language training, mYngle possesses extensive experience and proven capabilities in providing successful online education, while simultaneously prioritizing service quality and customer satisfaction.

By continuously innovating and striving for excellence, mYngle will remain ahead of the curve in the ongoing digital transformation, educating the market on the disparities between ad hoc solutions and a wealth of experience, with online learning serving as an integral aspect of the new norm.

How does your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?

Even prior to COVID, there was a significant shift in the language training market from in-person to online formats, a trend that has only accelerated in recent years. With social distancing and remote work protocols in place, online education has become the preferred means of learning for many.

In response to the surge in demand, traditional offline education providers have attempted to pivot to online formats quickly, but quality remote education is not simply a matter of transferring teachers from physical to virtual classrooms. It necessitates a fundamental shift in teaching methods, interaction, and content to ensure optimal user experience.

Does your company have any upcoming products or services?

We are constantly refining and upgrading our products and services, with the COVID-19 pandemic necessitating a more fundamental rethink of the entire learning experience. Our solution was already remote, placing us in a favorable position, and we continue to improve our offerings while keeping pace with this growing market trend. As such, there is no one specific product or service, as we remain committed to constant evolution and improvement.
