Magna to manufacture electric SUV for Ineos Automotive

Canadian automotive supplier Magna has announced that it will be manufacturing an electric SUV for Ineos Automotive, with production scheduled to commence in Graz, Austria in 2026.

Magna will also be responsible for the development of the complete vehicle. This marks a new collaboration between the two companies, although they previously worked together on a vehicle called Grenadier in 2018, which was an internal combustion engine. Ineos took over a former Daimler plant in Hambach for Grenadier production, where the off-road vehicle has been manufactured since 2022.

Ineos Automotive, a subsidiary of a UK-based chemical company, was founded in 2016. Magna’s role will be to manufacture the first BEV-powered SUV for Ineos Automotive. In a statement, Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos Automotive, said, “Having worked together on the engineering of our crucial first product, we’ve seen first-hand the value of applying Magna’s agility, expertise and experience to a complete vehicle development programme.”
