Microsoft has introduced AI-driven services for the management of telecommunications networks.
Microsoft has recently unveiled two AI-powered services that are specifically designed to manage telecom networks. These cutting-edge services are built on the same advanced capabilities that the tech giant has used to manage its Azure cloud platform. According to a blog post by the company, these services will provide telecom operators with access to advanced artificial intelligence, which will help them to unlock new business opportunities by gaining valuable insights into their operations. This will be particularly useful as telecom operators roll out high-speed 5G networks.
In 2020, Microsoft entered the 5G arena by acquiring cloud networking companies Affirmed Networks and Metaswitch. Since then, the company has been heavily invested in AI and has been focused on imbuing its products with such technology. One example of this is OpenAI’s ChatGPT bot, which Microsoft has invested in to enhance its AI capabilities.
Jason Zander, the executive vice president of strategic missions and technologies at Microsoft, said that the company is taking its native cloud work and making it specific to the telecom operator network space. One great example of this is the AI ops work that Microsoft is introducing into the system. This technology is being brought into this space, and according to Zander, every operator he has shown it to is extremely excited about it.
Telecom partners such as AT&T Inc, Ericsson, and Nokia Oyj will have the opportunity to benefit from Microsoft’s new Nexus service. This all-in-one platform will enable operators to manage their networks from the cloud, along with two different “AIOps” services.
Monica Zethzon, a vice president at Ericsson, stated that these developments will allow operators to transform their core networks while improving customer experiences. Overall, these new services have the potential to revolutionize the way telecom networks are managed and provide operators with a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace.
